Areas of focus
- Diagnosis and long-term management of childhood allergy, asthma and related conditions
- Allergy testing, including skin prick testing
- Lung function assessment, including spirometry, forced oscillation technique (FOT) and fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO)
- Allergen immunotherapy
- Acute paediatric care
Approach to care
Dr. Haripriya’s consultations combine a detailed clinical history with objective testing, so that a treatment plan is built around a confirmed diagnosis rather than a general label. For children, particular attention is given to explaining each test in a way that keeps the visit comfortable, and to giving parents a clear, written plan for day-to-day management at home.
Conditions commonly seen
- Recurrent wheeze and childhood asthma
- Allergic rhinitis and eye allergy
- Suspected food, drug or environmental allergies
- Eczema and other allergic skin conditions
- Children needing lung function or allergy testing before starting treatment
Background
Before joining Allergy Asthma Foundation, Dr. Haripriya worked as a consultant and specialist paediatrician across Allergy Asthma Foundation clinics, the National Health Mission and the e-Sanjeevani telemedicine service under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. She is a member of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP), the Indian Medical Association (IMA) and the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI), and was awarded second prize for a poster presentation at IAP Kerala State PEDICON 2021.
What to expect at your first visit
Your first consultation with Dr. Haripriya typically begins with a review of your child’s symptom history, any previous test results or treatments already tried, and any relevant family or environmental factors. She explains, in plain language, what further testing — if any — is needed and why, so the reasoning behind each recommendation is clear before it goes ahead. Once a diagnosis is reached, treatment options are discussed together, including what to expect in terms of timeline and follow-up, so families leave with a clear plan rather than just a prescription. Ongoing care is reviewed at agreed intervals, with the plan adjusted as symptoms change or improve.
